Rabbit Clicker Training
My mini lop, Filip (zobel siamese brown, almost three years old), showing some tricks he's learned through clicker training. The reward I give him is sunflower seeds and normal rabbit treats that you can buy in any pet store. Sunflower seeds are very fatty, though, so be careful with the amount you give! The video is shot in Sweden, which explains the weird language. All I'm saying, though, is pretty much "spin", "stand" and "good" etc. At the end of the video I'm trying to teach him to lie down. I'm using the moment where he's usually lieing down anyways, clicking at the very moment he lies down. This makes him realize what what he's doing is the desired behaviour and eventually he'll try to do it deliberately to try to get a treat. After a while you add the command "Lie down". In this video he didn't associate the word to the behaviour yet, so here I'm just adding the word to make him realize that what he's doing is actually called "Lie down", or "Ligg", which is the Swedish word I'm using. Eventually he'll pick it up and do it when I tell him to. …I hope.

SO smart
The tricks you want to teach him will require too much explanation to be posted in a comment. But what 's more important is to truely understand how clicker training works before you even start to try it on your rabbit. That's why I won't explain anything to you in the comments here, but suggest you to go and read as much about clicker training as you can instead before you start.
Good luck!
Thanks for your comment and sorry I haven't answered until now. You can get a clicker at pretty much any pet store. Getting him to side kick jump will probably be very hard, since they only do it when they're really happy or excited. You should really try to teach him easier things first before you take on the side kick jump (if ever). Shaking hands is also a hard one, but read up on clicker training as much as possible before you start and you'll figure out the rest while you read.
Of course they can.
As long as they like treats and they like and trust YOU, you can train them.
It's just important to do it the right way in order to be successful. It's easy to train them the wrong way when using the clicker training method, since it's quite tricky to get it right if you don't know what you're doing. Just read as much as you can about clicker training before you start and watch instructional videos here on YouTube.
Good luck!
neffy means va cute he is! And very good! That is sweedish!
WOW, I never knew a rabbit could do that. Forget quality shows! Filip is good enough to go to a dog show! And WIN!!!!!!!!!! I'm going to try that with my Rabbit. Can rescue Rabbits do it too?
I'm very sorry to hear that. I don't know of any lists like that, since I live in Sweden. But I'm really sorry to hear that your rabbit is gone. I know how much you can love a rabbit.
my rabbit look just like your he somehow got away that remains mystery we had both gates locked no way for him to get out we think coyote might have got him but no signs of struggle we posted signs it happened 2 years ago a looked on craiglist we think someone may have also took him and has him in our neighborhood and there kids have keeped him but have no way to find out. Your an ammazing Trainer
@Tinwelende Awesome, thanks for your help!
Wait until you think he/she is tame enough and seems to trust you. Give it at least a week, I'd say. Good luck with your new rabbit and don't forget to read as much as you can about clicker training before you start!
Hey, hopefully I'm getting a mini lop bunny sometime soon, how long do you think I should wait until I start trying to train him/her. I don't want to stress her on the first day, because I could imagine a new home might be stressful enough for a little bunny, so how long should I give it? Thanks
Thannk you!
wow! Amazing! Good job trainer
@Tinwelende i show him the treat but its not in my hand when i lift it and he doesnt reach for the treat just stands like i say
…………..thanks for answering
It's cause the treat is in your hand. But if you keep doing that and add the word "up" or whatever word you prefer every single time he stands up (AS he is standing up), he'll start associating the word with the action. After a while (several days of training) you can try to just say the word without the hand lure. Just wait for it and repeat the word a couple of times. If he doesn't stand up anyways, raise your hand quickly and then reward after taking it down if he stands up even after that.
Hi plz answer mee……….im just starting to clicker train my bunny and i can make him stand but only when i lift my hands up so is that a real trick or is it coz the treat is in my hand ?
What a cute bunny :p I LOVE flop eared bunnies!
My bun now goes in a litter box outside his cage. He seemed to prefer a specific spot to drop a pile of pellets, so I put a litter box there. Now that is where he prefers to poo, and especially likes to piddle in this box, as it is outside his cage. He rarely ever piddles in his cage anymore. Try placing a box outside the cage and placing some fecal pellets into it. Show the rabbit the poo, and give the bun some hay to eat as he/she goes. They prefer to poo when they eat and vice versa.
to the side if he doesn't want you to pet him and he'll lower his head if he thinks it's ok for you to pet him. Try to always make him think it's fun to be around you. Give him things to explore and give him little treats when he's been good (with moderation). With time you'll gain his trust and HOPEFULLY once he's reached adulthood, he's gotten his pooping in order, too.
He's still very young and most rabbits get better with age, poop-wise. Though, males are always a little bit messy and some male rabbits never poops in one corner of the cage. But just give it some time, move all the poop you see into his litter box and hopefully he'll get it eventually. To gain his trust more, try to feed him little treats from his hand and politely "ask him" if you can pet him before you do. If you hold your hand out infront and slightly over his head, he will turn his head
and i also let him out of the cage and block off some areas so he has a good amount of room and he doesn't seem to poop on the floor only everywhere in his cage and when i pick him up to put him on the couch he will go on the couch. so i don't know if i should train him some other way or to give him some more time to grow
